Agreement

By using Nou (“the Service”), operated by Immanence Inc., you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

What Nou is — and what it is not

Nou is a contemplative companion — an AI that helps you see your own patterns more clearly and points at what's already present when suffering is absent.

Important:

• Nou is not a therapist, counselor, or medical professional
• Nou does not provide clinical diagnoses or treatment
• Nou is not a substitute for professional mental health care
• If you are in crisis, please contact a mental health professional or crisis helpline

Your account

To use Nou, you need an Immanence account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate account information
• Keep your login credentials secure
• Be responsible for activity under your account
• Be at least 16 years old to use the Service

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws
• Harass, abuse, or threaten others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data
• Interfere with the Service's operation
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data
• Reverse-engineer the Service

AI-generated content

Nou's responses are generated by AI. While we strive for thoughtful, helpful responses, AI output may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Nou's reflections are offered as perspectives to consider, not authoritative assessments. Always use your own judgement.

Intellectual property

The Nou service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Immanence Inc. Your conversations and personal data remain yours.

The contemplative traditions referenced by Nou belong to their respective lineages and communities. Nou does not claim ownership over any traditional teaching or practice.

Subscriptions and payments

Nou offers a free tier and a paid Companion tier:

• Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe
• You can cancel anytime from your account settings; access continues until the end of the billing period
• We do not offer refunds for partial months
• Pricing may change with 30 days' notice

Disclaimer

Nou is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free responses, or specific outcomes from using the Service.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Immanence Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Nou. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the preceding 12 months.

Practice responsibly

Contemplative practice can surface difficult emotions. We encourage you to:

• Go slowly, especially if you're new to introspection
• Consult a professional if intense emotions arise
• Seek out human teachers and community alongside Nou
• Stop using Nou if it doesn't feel helpful

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
